#2. 3g Tour Ultra

3g Tour Ultra Bowling Shoe

I recently got my first pair of 3G shoes, and I must say, I'm impressed. The tour Ultra C bright orange pair I got looks pretty cool, although the colors might not be for everyone. The shoes come in a pretty nice looking shoe box, and they were well-packed with some really nice accessories. They came with a shoe cover, which is really useful to protect them from dirt and other stuff, and some shoe fillers that help maintain the shape of the shoes. I also got a 3G shoe horn, which is really nice because I sometimes struggle with getting my shoes on tight.

In addition, there's a pouch that contains interchangeable soles and heels, which is pretty uncommon nowadays. The system is quite smart, allowing you to customize how much you want to slide if you want to slide more on the front or the back of your foot. The shoes also have two vent holes in the sole, which helps with ventilation, so my feet don't sweat too much when wearing them.

The shoes themselves are comfortable, although a little stiff at first. They fit my foot really well, and I like that they're a little wider than most other models. They sit on my foot really well, nice and tight, and give me good comfortable slide and balance. I feel like I have a pretty good solid foundation when sliding in them. The inner sole is also comfortable, and you can change it to a customized one for your foot.

Overall, I'm really happy with my first pair of 3G shoes. They look sharp, feel comfortable, and have some really nice features. I'm looking forward to practicing and playing more in them, and hopefully, they'll help me perform well in upcoming tournaments.

  • The bright orange color may not be for everyone
  • Slick white heel may require frequent cleaning
  • Velcro on heels is initially very strong, which can make it difficult to change out the heels

How to find the perfect bowling shoe for you

Finding the right bowling shoe is essential for improving your game and ensuring a comfortable experience. With various levels of bowling experience and numerous shoe options available, it can be overwhelming to make the right choice. In this guide, we'll help you identify the best bowling shoe for you by considering the advice of two experienced bowlers and exploring different shoe types and features.

Step 1: Identify your bowling experience level

Determine which of the three levels of bowling experience best describes you:

  1. Casual bowler: Non-league bowler who enjoys going to the lanes once in a while
  2. Intermediate bowler: Weekly league bowler
  3. Very serious bowler: Multiple leagues, enthusiast, or tournament bowler

Step 2: Choose the appropriate shoe type

Consider the following types of bowling shoes depending on your style, age, and gender:

  • Youth bowling shoes: Lightweight and require less cushioning, perfect for kids.
  • Wide-width shoes: Provide extra room for more comfort when sliding.
  • Men's and ladies' bowling shoes: Differ in design according to foot anatomy.
  • Right-handed or left-handed only shoes: Specifically designed for dominant hand sliding.
  • Universal bowling shoes: Allow sliding on both shoes and are generally more affordable.
  • Interchangeable soles: Allow customization based on the surface you are bowling on.

Step 3: Examine shoe features

  • Sole: Focus on sliding and traction soles, which can be adjustable in more expensive shoes.
  • Lining: Ensure a sock-like lining for added comfort.
  • Uppers: Check for leather or synthetic uppers and their breathability.
  • Toe caps and heel stabilizers: Offer durability and stability during pivoting.
  • Insole: Look for thin and removable insoles to customize support.
  • Midsole and heel wedge: Provide extra cushioning and support during pivoting.
  • Heel cup and padded collar: Keep your feet secure and comfortable in the shoe.
  • Non-marking outsole: Prevents marking and damaging the floors at bowling alleys.

Step 4: Find the right fit

Ensure the shoe fits both the width and volume of your foot without pain or discomfort. There should be roughly an eighth of an inch space between the toe and shoe tip, with a snug fit that does not slip at the heel. Take into account the thickness of the socks you will be wearing and the shoe's flexibility. Ensure even pressure over your arches, and consider adding your own insoles for the perfect supporting fit.

Step 5: Avoid rental-style shoes and invest in shoe covers

Rental-style shoes prioritize durability over comfort and sliding. Opt for other options for a better bowling experience. Protect your shoes from liquids and dirt by purchasing shoe covers for when you walk away from the lane.

By considering your bowling experience level, understanding the different shoe options available, and examining various features, you can make an informed decision when purchasing a bowling shoe. Remember to invest in shoe covers to protect your investment and avoid rental-style shoes for a more comfortable and enjoyable bowling experience.
